Homily for May

Joe Gargoyle says:
"The bitterness of cheap quality is long remembered after the sweetness of low price is long forgotten." This is true of church financing. We get what we pay for. The Lord's work and worship demand our best.

Homily for April

Abraham Lincoln said:
"Property is the fruit of labor; property is desirable; it is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let no man who is houseless pull down the house of another, but let him work diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built."

Homily for March

Albert Schweitzer wrote:
"Affirmation of life is the spiritual act by which man ceases to live unreflectively and begins to devote himself to his life with reverence in order to raise it to its true value"

Homily for February

Saint Cyril of Jerusalem
"Our actions have a tongue of their own; they have an eloquence of their own, even when the tongue is silent. For deeds prove the lover more than words."

Homily for January

St Paul (1 Corinthians 13: 4-7)
"Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous, it is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

Homily for November

Joe Gargoyle says:
"Prejudice is a time saver; it enables one to form opinions without bothering to get the facts".

Homily for October

Joe Gargoyle says:
"A small boy was trying very hard to lift a heavy stone. His father, noting his failure, said to him, "Are you using all your strength?" "Yes, I am", the boy exchanged impatiently. "NO" the father replied, "You are not, You haven't asked for me to help".

The point here is that with the Lord, all things are possible. Without Him, we fall short of our life goals.

Homily for September

Joe Gargoyle says:
"Quarrels never could last long, if one side only lay down the wrong".
